Title: Hitachi 6 GB MD
Post by: Jhurlbs81 on January 11, 2006, 08:13:42 PM
Does anyone have any information on how this card preforms with the MT?  Is $199 a fair price to pay for a new one?

Regards,
Jesse

I know some people are using them and have had good luck.... back when the MT came out people were finding that card on ebay through vendors for around  $100 - 120

I've recorded several shows on my MT with the Hitachi 6gb microdrive without any problems. Recorded at both 24/48 and 24/96. The drive that I purchased off ebay is the Hitachi/Apple branded variety.

The only problem I've had with the one I bought is that it can't keep up with analog to WAV recordings. Analog to MP3 is fine, S/PDIF is fine. For that reason I'm selling it...$110 shipped + 3% Paypal. PM me if interested.

FWIW, I had no problems with my 6gb Hitachi/Apple branded microdrive keeping up with analog to wav recordings. I only ever used the MT analog>wav at both 24/48 and 24/96.

Just out of curiosity, how is the microdrive formatted?

Not surprising, really.  The real-time data flow to the drive ought to be the same regardless of the input source.  If there is a problem, it would more likely lie with the MT itself, or?
