Does anyone know why the "crystal" goes bad in these units?
Is it a design flaw? Is it because of the heat inside the unit?
What is the projected "life span" of the crystal?

i know it's a bit late; sorry i just saw the thread.

yes, absolutely buy this as paul @ prodig will be able to fix for less than 150. i went through the same thing and mine cost about 100 to fix, 'course i bought mine for 475 so you're getting a far better deal.

again, (insert cajun voice) YOU CAN DO IT !

Yes, I've already spoke to Paul about it. He qouted me a very fair price to fix it.
Can I ask you what exactly the problem was with your unit? Maybe it will help me with mine.

Well, I bought it!
Someone mentioned somethings about an internal fuse or circuit breaker on these? Does anyone know about that?

there is an internal fuse... in the ad500e it was fairly easy to get to and replace.

see you in a few hours!

sorry for the d-lay  :P

mine had electrical problems.  paul replaced the flux capacitor and johnson rods... he actually replaced a few diodes and i believe 2 fuses, and it's been perfect ever since.

cograts on your recent purchase !  when you have back problems in a year or two you'll know what did it ;)

One of the voltage regulators was sparking, so I ordered a replacement for it. Some of the components in the thing are hard to find. They didn't just use "off the shelf" components. If it doesn't work right after I replace that voltage regulator, I'll send it to Paul.

I replaced one of the voltage regulators and it was still sparking.
