you can run the m148 line into a dap1 if your mics have high enough output, the u89s did not put out enough juice to do this very well
I,m running dpa 4023,s so do they have enough output?

I am not sure but I doubt it. The DPA 402x series are quite low output mics (7mV/pa). Don't know how hot the U89's run, but when I ran some 140's with my V3 I had to knock the gain down ~5dB from my normal setup running 4022's.

Happy taping,
Ben

you're gonna have to turn the shit out of the v3 gain, thus running more v3 pre, I believe. dpas are pretty low output. check with Schuster, he ran this rig.

At the 2003 Xmas Jam, Mic D started out the night with 4022>m148>ad1000 and wasn't able to apply enough gain to get decent levels during the acoustic music.  We swapped mics so to speak and I ran mk41>kc5>cmc6>m148>adk and was able to get nice levels.  Mic D ran 4022>m148>v3 and had the gain @ +20 with additional trim applied.

I ran the mk41>m148>v3 combo 5 times that fall and each time, I left the gain on the V3 @ +10 and had plenty of room to work with.

yeah, the dpas really are low output. many times when I ran 4022>eaa>adk I had to run the adk wide open, even at -10 on the adk. amd running 4022>m148>hhb, I had a bitch of a time getting good levels.

Been running the MG>M148>V3 for a little while now, and I need very little gain on the V3 (10-15db). I like the combo so far in bad to decent sounding rooms. Good sounding rooms, I may pull the M148, but I am rarely in a good sounding room!
