Almost looks like an AC power cord - any pics of the actual connector pins?

It looks molded - so lower quality mass produced - typical of AC power cables - or cheaper home audio stuff

According to Google, it's made of brown leather.

Possibly a connector from a Fender Rhodes to it's power source? My wife used to be a keyboardist in a punk band in Albany and she has a few cables that are silmilar in look, size, and design as this one. Would def need to see the pin side for confirmation.

Y'all know what I know, except that it was a part that was re-purposed for use as part of a movie prop produced in Canada.

Looks like it could be some type of a charge coupler or a trailer wiring connector, perhaps may even be some type of nozzle.  Thought I'd ask the forum in case anyone might know.  The closest I've come up with is a right angle Speakon connector but it's not that.  I have no idea of the pin side but it is pretty distinctive so that anyone familiar could recognize it.

Mystery solved, it is a Three-Phase Loadbreak Elbow Connector

Yes, Loadbreak Connectors terminate and connect high voltage cable and equipment on power distribution systems.  Not our everyday run of the mill cable needs as tapers.  Turns out there are several manufacturers of these including Hubble, Cooper and 3M.  http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/mediawebserver?mwsId=SSSSSufSevTsZxtUnY_vM8tGevUqevTSevTSevTSeSSSSSS--

The loadbreak connector pictured with full size hair dryer for size comparison.

I just looked at Cooper Power Systems website and these connectors carry 200 amp to 600 amp loads, so don't pick one up you see lying open on the ground unless there is no cable on it. Might be the last thing you ever do......

Yup: hard hat, lineman gloves and hot stick required for these in real life and they are not cheap either.

I'm only building a movie prop with it so there are absolutely no operational worries or shock hazards involved.

When you emailed me with the picture I had no sense of scale now that I see it next to that hair dryer it makes perfect sense :)

Chris, the sense of scale was definitely skewed by the original photos.

It was a different connector that I had e-mailed you about, it's photo was also misleading in scale. I tracked that one down too, it was an arktite socket made by Crouse Hinds in Canada, currently a division of Cooper who is apparently undergoing another ownership change, that didn't help the search.

So did it create or kill the zombies?

P.S. -  You have an orange hair drier!
             That's so hardcore.              ;D

DigiGal, tell us the story. did you use it for a prop, did it make the final cut etc? This thread "died" in SEP 2014, but you didn't answer if it was for the Zombies or not?  8) :o

Well the original fueled Vipers in the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series. I was actually building a full size replica of one of the screen used props from the Galactica's Hangar Bays which were auctioned off after production wrapped in Vancouver. The photos I worked from were photos from the Propworx auction catalog. The finished replica now lives on an adjacent wall in my basement electronics lab. It's room decoration that fits right in nicely complimenting my electronics workbench and rolling oscilloscope cart etc.  There's a full size replica of one of the Hangar Bay 1 - Repair Bay signs that's mounted above it.
