Title: pmd661 external bat confusion
Post by: MBHOTAPER on March 29, 2011, 06:03:05 PM
Researching external batt time(s) for an upcoming fest. I have a 50 wh lion bat from bixnet (pmd85-50).
Formula calculations I have seen are:
mah= wh * 1000/volts
       = 50*1000/5
       = 10000
makes sense since the tekkeon 3450 is 50wh w/10000mah.
Confused because on the batt under the leather case sayes 13200 mah.
How could this be? ???

Since the pmd661 records at 4.2 how long should I get on a 10000mah batt? How long if 13200mah is correct?

Thanks.

not sure about that specific battery, but in my tests with the Tekkeon mp3450, I got 15+ hours, and still had 3 of 8 lights on the tekkeon battery meter (i.e. could have definitely gone a good deal longer).

that's at 10,000 mAH (5V setting)

That was with mics running directly into the deck, with phantom power on.
The beyerdynamic CK930 draw 4.6mA of phantom power, which is more than most mics.
If your mics use less phantom power, you'll get longer run times.

I saw that thread but what I was wondering is how long is expected without phantom power (line in from my mmp)? Just trying to figure how many days I can go without recharging. It's a 4 day festie with about 10-12 hours per day recording time. Could be more if I hoped from stage to stage but the crowd will be so big at wanee I would probably be constantly late setting up.

thanks!

I'm not sure if there have ever been any battery tests running line in.  All I know is that when I used 2650 mAH NiMH internal AA's, running line-in from a Sonosax SX-M2 (for Phish), I still had "full" power (four bars) at the end of the show.

This is just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if you can get 40-50+ hours using the external battery you've got, and running line-in.

The only way to find out is to set it up and let it run.  get a large card, set it to 16 bit /44.1 kHz, and see what you get.

I was guestimating possibly twice your batt tests w/phantom also. At about 12 hrs a day I expect I can go 3 days before recharging for the 4th day. I guess the ones requiring at least 1 batt recharged each night will be my dvd batts for my mmp.

Don't you have time to test it at home? When is wanee?
