I would be shocked if B&H sold counterfeit Schoeps products. Then again I'm surprised the B5Ds fit on your Neumanns. They are pretty tight on 20mm Schoeps and I was thinking Neumann were maybe 21-22mm. The little plastic basket inside the B5D wouldn't accommodate another 1mm on mine..

^The B5 is is just foam...   similar to the B5D but without the plastic chamber.

I bought some b5’s on ebay a while back for like $7 a pair but cant seem to find the link. Not overly impressed with there abilities but indoors they work ok. I believe there made the same as the shoeps ones.

Yup. Those are the ones. For the price i think there good quality and i use them alot. I just had an issue a few weeks ago where i was directly in line of a blazing huge industrial ac vent and they didnt hold up so great. More my fault then theres.

I don't know of any third-party equivalent to the B 5 D windscreen specifically, if that's really what you're looking for (with the "D" on the end--the version that was invented for "The Three Tenors"). Most people use the simpler, less expensive model B 5 for most applications--and there are plenty of knockoff versions of that, at least in structure and appearance. I don't know how closely the characteristics of the foam material in the various third-party versions resembles what Schoeps uses, though, so I don't know whether the treble losses are as low as they would be with the genuine item. I have definitely seen some cheap knockoffs use a type of foam that would choke the high frequencies pretty noticeably.

To me it seems a little odd to use expensive, high-end microphones but then compromise their recording quality with windscreens that save you only maybe 1% of what those microphones cost you.

I use the Schoeps B5 windscreens for indoors, and for transporting my capsules/KCY setups inside of my Pelican 1030's! They seem to do a great job for transporting them and for indoor use. They're only $15/each, so I wouldn't try to use a knockoff when they're that cheap. However, I would NEVER use them outdoors! I was going to buy [4] of the Schoeps B5D basket-style screens, but I don't really trust them for any decent wind gusts outdoors, and I figured it was kinda a waste of money to spend $200 on the B5D's, when Id only be using them indoors and for transporting my capsules/KCY's, so I went with the B5's!

Outdoors, I use the Movo WSTT50's, and I've been thinking of upgrading those to the Movo WS-G30's, which have a dual artificial fur coating. However, I've never tested or used those, so I'm not sure which model would best suit my needs outdoors ??? I'll probably buy ONE pair of the Movo WS-G30's and A/B them against my Movo WSST50's at the Pittsburgh Arts Festival next month, and see which ones outperform the others, instead of trying them out at a 3-4 day festival, and finding out the hard way lol ;D

Looking forward to hearing your impression of the Movo WS-G30's vs the Movo WSTT50's in moderately windy conditions.
