mini-mp initial review
« on: December 07, 2003, 02:29:03 PM »
It's an m148 killer (crawls back into hiding ;D).  It is really really impressive.  What a huge sound!!!  The preamp is nothing at all like the mini-me pre, that was quite obvious from initial listening at 3 am last night.  Warm, big, analogish, huge would be the words to describe it.  Highs are crystal, lows are extyremely well defined.  etc.  I will write more this afternoon, need to go eat.  Oh yeah, the blue lights are killer!

you need to run an m148... especially with those Gefell's!

sorry, D., gotta give you a small ration of shit for raving after a studio session. Get this sucka out in the field, and then we'll see whether it's a m148 killer!  ;D

Studio...you mean my living room??  I did do this in the field, broken grass and bockman's euphio saturday night.  I will post a 24 bit BT tonight after I track it out.  Unless the consensus is people would rather hear a dithered version???

D., a couple of operating questions. It looks from the pic like you adjust coarse gain on the l/r dials, and then fine adjust via the single output knob, is this right? Thanks, Marc.

nice! I can't wait to hear it. Did you happen to talk to any of the guys in either band and what did you think of their sets? have you seen or heard them before?

sending an email right now......

I had never heard be, but have seen broken grass several times and I really enjoy them.  The guys were all very nice, and personally introduced themselves to me...read we want tape, you taper dork kinda thing!  I have a sbd copy of be as well on dat that you are more than welcome to as well.  I will probably just send you the master as I usually only keep them in case I fark something up.  24 bit aud of both though, and with the mini-mp to boot.  I was set up about 6 feet from stage, din 90 degrees clamped to my self-installed pole at the bar I was in...gotta love knowing the owner's!

also can't wait to hear the mini-mp. sounds like a nice unit.

It's fantastic...kinda like a psp-2, m148 type unit.  You guys will be able to hear for yourselves this evening!  How in the world people put what they hear into words is beyond me!

Any more specific observations on how the unit sounds and the features?  I would love a copy of something you have taped with it even just one aor two songs, I don't have a high speed connection though.
