cdwave question
« on: August 14, 2015, 04:47:51 PM »
What setting is the correct one for the full sized wave?   Somehow when I saved my project its in a reduced size - has to be bigger, its a 4 channel recording.  Sounds great, just not the full wave.

Thanks and sorry if this is a dumb question - recording is really nice, don't want to share it until it's correct.

Not sure I fully understand the question.  Most editors save multitrack settings as "projects", which are actually just the settings that apply to the original wav tracks (so that "project" is a small overlay, not the entire wav file).  If you mix it down you're likely going to wind up with a two-track stereo wav which will necessarily be smaller than the 4 original tracks (if that's small perhaps the default is to mix it to 16/44.1).  You should be able to see and adjust what settings are applied to the output when you do the mixdown or save as...  Look for those/don't go too fast through the work flow when you mix/save it...

^^ I take it you've never used cd wave?

Walt

save as Output mode direct wave (default) and if 24bit make sure you check the box for "use alternative 24bit format"

I save to WAV to create a WAV MD5, and TLH level 8 creates smaller FLAC files than CDWave...  As HDD space is valuable, I go with TLH level 8 whenever I FLAC anything...

I've used cdwav a bunch...audacity...not much. Figured out I was mixing to a mono channel...everything straight now. I was a soundforge kid....now self teaching audacity. Appreciate the info.

It only took one corrupted .flac a long time ago, to convince me to save both .wav and .flac files.    8)

MD5 file question...I've had no trouble creating this and testing files.  My issue now  is getting the test results to a format I can cut and paste to my set list file.

If you are using Windows, open it with Notepad.

Right click on the .md5 file> Open with...> Notepad

It may prompt you to find the program to open it. Just select notepad.

You can also associate the .md5 to notepad on your control panel: Programs> Default Programs> Associate a file type or protocol with a program

I haven't done an MD5 in quite some time, though. All my uploading goes to archive, which generates it automatically.

CDWav is the fastest, best way to track out a show.
The customer support is superlative.
Last week, they sent me a lost activation key from 2005 to allow a re-install.  For an inexpensive program, that is unheard of.
FWIW, it works on Winders 10 Pro.

I'm fine with cdwav tracking...it was finding away to copy and paste test data into a file.
