I'm holding out for one of these

Gonna need a left and a right for stereo.

Yeah, but internal mics + put them under your front row seat = heat.

FWIW, I had a 22wl and sold it here maybe a year ago.  Still have an 05.   My hazy and potentially wrong recollection is my 05 has better battery life since it doesn't have any wifi control.  The thing about the 22wl that was interesting was the ability to control it remotely using the Tascam control app.  If you had a situation where you could put the 22wl on stage and would be close enough to control it remotely, I think that would be its best use.

edit:  alternatively, if you could put the 22wl at the soundboard and capture a feed remotely, that would also be a good use.  I never tried it, but I assume you could use a battery powered external router to extend its range?

If you are just going to have the recorder with you, then my suggestion would be the 05 which I think is a pretty decent recorder.

The new Sony PCM-D10 looks interesting and comparatively much smaller than its predecessors.

The M10 was a classic.  Still can't believe Sony discontinued it.

Hi all! Would you still consider sensible using a PCMD100 for long form interviews with just the internal mics instead of getting the D10 and rigging it up with the internals + xlr new feature?
I mean, I'm just getting the D100...

Thought some might be interested in this review (https://mindful-audio.com/blog/handheld-recorder-review) of the D10 (and A10) from George Vlad on his field recording blog.

Thanks! However, the review seems to focus on the recording quality of the internal mics. Not sure the results apply to what most of us do.

Agreed, in reference to internal mics. However, I thought him getting almost 13 hours on a set of AA batteries while running 2 phantom powered mics would catch some folks' eyes.

"When using the XLR inputs, the D10 is noisier than the Sound Devices Mixpre 10T or 633 recorders. Granted, these are recorders with more features and in different price categories, but it still is a bit disappointing."

Yes, disappointing.

It certainly does. I doubt the preamps are as good and the battery life isn’t great.
