hey now, I was at walmart looking around for a battery source for my hosa odl-276 and possibly my jb3 and I searched through the site to find folks were picking up a  9v walmart lithium ion battery and I wa just wondering if anyone could give me specific make and models of ones that they have had success with ????

Based on my research on the site, I think getting one of these is exactly what I need, just need a nudge in the right direction

thanks in advance

This is the walmart li-ion battery everyone's been posting about.  http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=2350787
FWIW.  There seems to be both 7.2v and 9v versions.  You just need to check on the packaging.  All the product and model numbers are the same regardless of voltage.  My walmart had 9v versions only.

You can also find them cheaper on ebay under the Memorex or ESA brand.  I picked up a Memorex brand one for $26 and it also includes a car adapter so you can charge the li-ion battery from your cig. lighter in the car.  Do a search for ESA DVD Battery or Memorex DVD battery, and you'll likely find a couple.

FWIW, the Hosa and the UA5 require 9v, and that Memorex batt is 7.2v.  I'm sure it would work, but it's not ideal.

Hosa 9v yes but the UA5 will run off 7.2v fine.  my battery system(RC race cells) is 7.2 volts so i use a TI PT5045 to boost the voltage for my hosa.

Radio Shack sells the R/C 9.6 V battery, that may work for you.

The memorex battery I got is 9v.  I guess it varies, just like the actual ones from walmart.  It should say its voltage on the packaging, or in the auction listing.

Hey, that is the 9.6 V battery (R/C) in the pic there.  Same system I use, heh, cool.  Anyone know the average life of a full charge in the field?  I have used mine for like three shows before, maybe 9-10 hours before charging (using CO2).  Anyone know how long they get out of a 9.6 V R/C with a Hosa, or CO2 in the field?  Was always curious about that.

Check out this Optical cable RA's built in.

That is a nice looking cable.  Which direction does the TOSLINK end point when it's plugged into your UA-5?  Just trying to figure out which direction the cable wants to lay in case it make a difference in the design of a stand mount that I'm working on for the UA-5 and the NJB3.

the toslink points to the side (i.e. towards the coax input/output)...i just got one and it is still pretty thin but not having to deal with adaptors is nice.

Dang... That's too bad. There will be times when I want to run a line level input with TOSLINK out.  That orientation would put the cable laying right over the top of the line level adjustment.  I'd sure prefer that it went the opposite direction.  Looks like I'll be staying with my straight end connections for now.

Thanks for the info! (+t)
