Depends on what you're using it for.  At first glance the only thing that stands out to me is the HDD.  SSDs are a very noticeable improvement to boot up times and the like.  Personally, I wouldn't go back to having an HDD as my primary drive.

agree on SSD.  also not a huge deal but it's only a 4th gen i5 (they are on 8 now).  See how this i5 stands up to the 7th gen one.

Newer gens are much more efficient.

All the new PC's we order or have Dell build use SSD's for their boot/system drive. For instance, the last one I ordered had a 512 GB M SSD drive (for boot/system) and a 2 TB SATA drive (for storage)

Better?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1TS-000E-001X9

It's an i7 not an i5 but it's a 2nd gen.  Some people will say it's better b/c it has Windows 7 vs 10.  I'm not one of them!  Windows 7 end of life is less than 2 years away.  So you would need to upgrade the os at that point (if it's capable).

So I’m only using this as my music processing computer, it has to operate cd wav editor, audacity, Nero and eac. I use a passport to store music and an external cd drive when I make discs. Also to send shows via we transfer. So pretty limited. Thanks!

Holy shit Dave this is worse than buying a car. I just need the equivalent basic transportation, no gaming here. Don't care about sceeen size or memory, everything she going on outboard drives. Might just go with first choice if it lasts five years I'll be happy. I do everything except music processing on iPad.

Yes but music processing can be way faster with better specs!

Nobody is mentioning the 486, running at a blazing 66 MHz.

Do you require that it's a laptop?  A desktop gets you much better bang for the buck.

Marc, in my humble opinion and for your stated basic audio processing needs, the machine(s) you've picked out should be just fine. The only thing I would change on either of your choices is that I would up the RAM to 16gb.

I tend to agree. If it were my choice out of these two: I'd go with the Win10 machine but make it 16GB RAM as billydee suggests. For that price, if it lasts 3-5 years you will have gotten your money's worth.
I HAVE used Lenovo, and purchased them for clients; no build complaints aside from that odd track eraser thingy; HOWEVER warranty work is 100% mail-in which I and my clients find not optimal. Mine is a work situation, so you would probably be fine, just no computer for the 5-10 business days it takes to process.
One aside; for any laptop, buy the longest, best warranty you can afford. (i.e. I ALWAYS get Apple Care on a iPad, but rarely get accidental coverage on Dell towers. [same type of warranty/different names])

 I didn't mean to scare you, bud. But if I know you at all, you "may" not know what questions you need to ask.  ;)  Most of my drivel was aiming at making the audio processing a more expeditious process for you. Perhaps in your waning years you have a more relaxed pace to life and what you've picked out will work just fine for you. I do second upping the RAM to 16gb.

Good Luck, Pard'  :coolguy:

Waning years? Nah????

Do appreciate the help!
