Little stage setup help
« on: August 24, 2005, 12:54:27 AM »
Below is the stage layout for a pretty nice venue called Nectar that often hosts some of the best bands in the country but as you can see, is a little odd. The bands actually face the direction "mix three" is facing, NOT the direction the "mid fills" are as you'd expect. I've taped from this stage twice. The first time was a B3 trio (Olympic Sound Collective) and had my mics DIN on a '2 stand just to the right of (right) "mix two". The B3 was located between "mix one" and (left) "mix two". I think I could have done a better job positioning for a better image, but overall, not a bad stage recording.

The second time, was for a band that consisted of 2 guitars, bass & drums. Set up in the same location. A decent recording but not the sharp, clean image your typical stage recording will capture. Using the stage and mainfloor layouts, which stage location would some of you prefer?
