26400 mAh (98 watt hour) 12V battery $130 from Bixnet
« on: April 03, 2013, 09:56:00 AM »
Its a brand new model which will be available at the end of May 2013
http://www.bixnet.com/mp10012v.html

High Capacity  External Rechargeable Battery with 12V  and 5V USB port outputs - MP100-12V.

Features:

1. 12V & 5V Output Voltages:

This battery has a 5V USB port that can be used  to power or charge cell phones, iPhone, iPad,  MP3/MP4 players, PDAs and any device that can be charged from a USB port (USB power cable not included).

This battery regular output port can supply 12V output voltage. It also comes with 8 different interchangeable connector tips which can plug on the 12V output cable to provide different size power connector.

2. High capacity: This battery capacity is 98 Watt-hour ( or 26400 mAh if we rate this battery capacity like some other brand external batteries on market). We suggest using "Watt-hour" instead of "Amp-hour" to compare capacities of different batteries. Watt-hour or Wh, is a more accurate unit to show the power capacity than Amp-. Hour (Ah) that was used before. The Watt-Hour unit means the wattage that the battery can provide within one hour.

This battery capacity is equivalent to a 12-cell lithium-ion battery. In most case, it can double  or even triple a laptop running time together with  the laptop internal battery.

Looks like a winner.  The output plug looks like a unique size and can be ordered for different output voltages (12,15,16,19,24v) http://www.bixnet.com/mp100outcable.html

"This  DC Power Output Cable is special designed for our MP100 external battery. Its one end is a standard 5.5 x 2.1mm barrel connector with 5.5mm outside diameter and 2.1mm inside diameter. Its another end is a special connector that fits our MP100 battery output port.

This output cable has built in micro chip that can change the MP100 battery output port voltage to different voltage. Please select the output voltage you need when you order this output cable (12,15,16,19,24v). "

A week's worth of power for an Aerco, before the next charge?

That's only a 12V 8.17Ahr batter (98/12 = 8.17 Ahr) - I think I will pass and look to buy one of these next:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-10Ah-Lithium-Iron-Phosphate-Battery-LiFePO4-WITH-CHARGER-/380611239104

Which is a 10Ah or 120Whr battery and is about $40 cheaper - plus these will swap out with standard SLA batteries - these are designed and assembled in the US!!!  You can even use most SLA chargers to charge these batteries - such as the Battery Tender.

The Chinese designed batteries like to map the mAh down to the Cell level which is marketing BS (i.e. 98/26.4 = 3.712V ~ Cell Voltage).

http://www.batteryspace.com/Li-Ion-Batteries-To-Replace-Lead-Acid-Batteries.aspx

These SLA replacement batteries are a new trend in the Lion world and are designed as a direct drop in replacement for SLA's - in devices like bikes, ups', etc - so they are designed to work off existing SLA chargeing circuits, same form factor, etc

sure those batteries you listed are nice but there is now way to tell how much power is left and you can't power other devices with it. For the money, form factor, and watt hour rating, its what I would go with if I didn't already own the higher capacity 158 watt hour battery they offer. It has a 19V-12V switch and also has usb 5V out.

I am with you Louie.  I have too much spinning around my head to worry about calculating how much power i have left in a battery.

I ran sla's for years so this is not a prob for me - also the hs-p82 has a voltage monitor that's a better gauge then any meter on the battery (I have found that meters on batteries become pretty unreliable as the cells age)

I believe the SD-xxx do the same.

I've been pretty lucky with my four dvd battery power exhaust gauges except for a couple of weeks ago outside at Killington for moe but that I attribute to being in colder than normal temps and I mistakenly was using one of the two oldest
