Traders little helper and SBE's
« on: November 07, 2013, 08:03:51 AM »
Hi all,

Someone sent me 24/96 files in flac format. I converted them to wav in TLH. I ran Shntool to check for SBE's and received the following file:

length     expanded size    cdr  WAVE problems  fmt   ratio  filename
     7:17.960     252265052 B   cxx   --   -----    wav  1.0000  DSO_2013-10-11_S101_Hell_In_A_Bucket.wav
     8:18.933     287385644 B   cxx   --   -----    wav  1.0000  DSO_2013-10-11_S102_Loser.wav
     3:06.599     107480966 B   cxx   --   -----    wav  1.0000  DSO_2013-10-11_S103_Me_And_My_Uncle.wav
     5:17.525     182894606 B   cxx   --   -----    wav  1.0000  DSO_2013-10-11_S104_Big_River.wav
     7:46.280     268577534 B   cxx   --   -----    wav  1.0000  DSO_2013-10-11_S105_Ramble_On_Rose.wav
     5:26.332     187967522 B   cxx   --   -----    wav  1.0000  DSO_2013-10-11_S106_Tom_Thumb_Blues.wav
     7:03.232     243781562 B   cxx   --   -----    wav  1.0000  DSO_2013-10-11_S107_Hey_Pocky_Way.wav
     8:38.368     298580234 B   cxx   --   -----    wav  1.0000  DSO_2013-10-11_S108_Cassidy.wav
     4:45.501     164448902 B   cxx   --   -----    wav  1.0000  DSO_2013-10-11_S109_Might_As_Well.wav
    57:40.732    1993382022 B                            1.0000  (9 files)

Is the column with the "cxx" an error?

When I try to fix these in TLH it will not let me select them.

Does TLH only work on 16/44.1 files and not 24/96 files?

I checked on line and could not find an answer.

If TLH does not do it, what else would?

Thanks

Patrick

by "sector boundaries," you're actually describing sectors on an actual CD.

CD audio has 75 frames a second. each frame is 588 samples (75 x 588 = 44100). You need to split tracks on a "frame," also known as a "sector."

24 bit files have no such thing as sector boundaries since the boundary is actually something that only relates to actual data on cds.

Quote
cdr    Shows properties related to CD-quality files.  A  'c'  in
the  first slot indicates that the WAVE data is not {C}D-
quality.  A 'b' in the second slot indicates that the CD-
quality  WAVE data is not cut on a sector {b}oundary.  An
's' in the third slot indicates that the CD-quality  WAVE
data is too {s}hort to be burned.

A '-' in any of these slots indicates that the particular
property is OK or normal.  An 'x' in any of  these  slots
indicates  that the particular property does not apply to
this file, or cannot be determined.

SBEs only occur with 16/44 files - they have to do with CDR burning...
