Denecke PS2 vs. Art Dual Phantom PS
« on: October 11, 2005, 02:02:21 PM »
i'm trying to round out a lightweight, somewhat more stealthable rig than my ADK TL > AD1000 rig

currently, i've got mics (oktava w/ 3 caps) > rolls ps > adc-20.....first time out, i realize the rolls is fried, either from wear/tear or having mistakenly plugged in the wrong battery  :P

so now that i need to snag another PS, I'm wondering why pay the extra $$ for PS2 when an Art can be had for half that ?   if it's just supplying phantom power, could it really make a difference in sound quality ?

if anyone has an opinion on Art's product, or any other low cost PS vs the PS2, i'd appreciate it

thanks

I've heard the ART phantom is not as clean as the ps-2. This is what I was told by someone I trust years ago when I was first building a rig. FWIW. I've done no tests to prove this.
