I got a Panasonic 42 inch plasma (TH-42PX75U) a couple months ago from HH Gregg for $1100.....we really enjoy it.  Very easy to dial in on colors, no issues at all.  Best looking display I found in the under $1500 crowd.

remember - you need to consider where the tv is going - that is what determines plasma or lcd: if there are lots of windows, and light, in the room - lcd is the way tom go; otherwise, plasma is the choice. i am in the former group, so i'll chime in for the philips 42 lcd. $1200 from bb or costco; 1499 gets you the ambilight version, which is worth the extra scratch, imo.

Except for the new Pannys, which have the anti-glare coating.  I'd recommend them in a sunny room over an LCD any day.

i am trying to follow you, but i dont understand what you are saying here...

you are saying the new pannys, WITH "antiglare coating," have too much glare - but all other plasmas are ok in a sunny room..? and that you prefer all plasma sets ("except for the new Pannys, which have antiglare coating") to lcd sets in sunny/bright environments..?

wait :D i think i got it.... you are saying you agree with my statement, except when dealing with the new pannys with the antiglare coating; in the case of thenew pannys (with the coating) you would take them over a lcd in a bright room...

(sorry for being a dumba$$)

+t (and thx for the reminder this am ;) - dont know if it helped yet)

Yeah, sorry - I meant that the new Pannys in a sunny room look great.  ;)

I'll second this.  I have a newer 42" panny in a room with glass on three walls and skylights.  I never have an issue with glare and the display is very clear even when the sun is bright.   I can see football on TV while I'm mowing the lawn.
