A possible fix for ailing AD1000's ?
« on: June 24, 2005, 01:30:07 PM »
Sorry Brian, I have to try to get more eyeballs on this idea before I go out of my way to try it

on this thread....  http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=44365.0  ....ethan came up with an idea for correcting an ailing word clock.  now i a lot of you guys know your shit, and i'm inclined to think that someone has tried this before....i would just go ahead and give it a shot except that the nearest V3 to me is over an hour away, and if someone can say that they've tried this out and it doesn't work, it will save me from making the trip.

this will be sweet if it works...thanks for any input you may have on this idea.

j

edit: here's the idea in short: Get a BNC connector and set the AD1K up to sync from a WC rather than the crystal. Use the V3 as a preamp and pass the WC output from the V3 into the AD1K as input....You'll need to set the Sync dip switcht to 75 Ohm Term.

word...been looking at everyone in the areas V3's and they're all opt...d'oh

I think the V3 I borrowed to tape on Jamcruise had the WC still...I'll have to give that guy a shout but I still need to find an AD1K with a bad word clock. I'm definitely going to test this with my working AD1K as I'm hoping to do some 4 input tapes this summer with the AD1K and V3 synced.

we just got to find someone with one of each in the same city...
