...sent an email to Denecke today inquiring about a possible 24bit mod...here's their answer:

There are no current plans for a 24 bit box. It is something I keep
debating about. It's not out of the question. Unfortunately, there isn't
a real big market for it. Although the AD-20 did sell, the number of
sales wasn't quite enough to justify a new box. On the other hand, we do
get many request just like yours. We'll see ....

Isn't the industry standard for film audio 24/44.1? Denecke manufactured mostly for film people in mind...

I thought film industry standard is 24/48. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

24 or 16 is fine. To them it's not the bit depth or sample rate they worry so much about as is the time code. Depending on the camera and media the sample rate can be 32 KHz, 44100 KHz, 48000 KHz, 48048 KHz at either 16- or 24-bit. Where it really matters to them is time code, for that they tend to use: 23.96, 24,25, 29.97, 29.97DF, 30, or 30DF (all fps). DF means drop frame.
