ad1000 ran fine but....
« on: October 27, 2003, 09:09:26 AM »
Hey thanks everybody for the help with the Apogee. Everything went great and the tapes of my friend and Topaz came out great!  But I was at ACL a few weeks ago and taped Topaz, he asked me Friday nite to tape again and give him a copy after the show! I always bring an extra deck just b/c you never know what will happen and when. So I run a digital cable from my p1 to my d8 and bam, "Copy Prohibit!" This was the first time I ran a apogee off the board and I assume it has to do with that. I even tried the digi-caboe coming out of the apogee but to no avail that did that work either! Once again I need some input, thanks!

Were you using the aes on the poagee?  This seems strange, as I don't think the ad1k sends scms, and I know the p1 doesn't.  HMM, maybe someone else can help further.

Maybe you should try putting the D8 in front of the P1. Unless you have a digi in only cable.

Were you using an active cable?  I never did understand why d8's sometimes were picky about da-p1's!  However, I believe he said that he couldn't get a signal from the coax out on the ad1k either, which makes me think you may have a bad oade cable.

Very possible, I was unclear about him running coax out. I hope he can verify.

I have ran the d8 out of the p1 for years. And like I said I would rather be safe than sorry, I own two 7-pin cables and neither worked. I got home and it takes a signal from my home deck with both 7-pins. And than I ran the d8 off the p1 and it worked. Is this the ad?  I tried to run the digi-coax directly from the ad1k and no luck the only thing I did not try was running the d8 in front of the p1 which I would not have done anyway.
