Looking to upgrade from ZS7 to a ZS100.  This looks like the camera to get.

The zoom goes from a 12x on the ZS7 to a 10x on tha ZS100, but perhaps I can dip into the 20x zoom?

How about modes and times for the ZS100?  Does it still do 720p umlimited like the ZS7?  The 1080p 29 min, 4K 15 min?

And audio wise, the ZS7 isn't horrible, is the ZS100 comparable?

Thanks,
Bill

Also remember if you shoot 4K then edit a 1080p video, you can crop to "zoom in" even more.
I shoot concert video and post my footage to YouTube

you can, but it will decrease the quality so much because the extra sensor crop when recording in 4k already destroys the 4k performance much unfortunately.

I just bought one this week.  I'm very pleased with the results so far.  Great camera for concerts and it's about time.  10x zoom is plenty for most of the stuff I'm at.  I'm using it strictly for photos, but 4k video is just so tempting.  Kudos to Panasonic!

Jon, its a big jump over the ZS70 in terms of photo quality.  1" sensor does a better job in low light situations for sure.

Do it!   :coolguy:

After attending the NY Photo Expo a few days ago, if I were interested in a camera for 4K video, I'd go with the FZ2500.  I'm using the FZ70 myself for photos, but I do very little video.
Normal: Nakamichi CM-700's >> SD 744T (or) Sony PCM-M10
Normal: Crown CM-700's >> SD 302 >> SD 744T
Fun times: 3 Crown CM-700's >> SD 302 >> SD744T + 2 Nakamichi CM-700's >> SD744T
Stealth: CA-14c >> CA 9200 >> Edirol R-09HR
Ultra stealth: AudioReality >> AudioReality battery box >> Edirol R-09HR
Simple & Sweet!

The FZ2500 doesn't go through in most venues though.

Funny how we have ended up owning the same cams by happenstance so far, this time I may very well follow your lead.  I was considering going back to the zs3 for non stop video but the 100 has me intrigued

The FZ2500 doesn't go through in most venues though.

Why?  It has a fixed lens that can not be removed.

Because its a DSLR body size camera after all, causing many to refuse them. You get rejected with those in most venues in Europe.

Ahhhh, Europe.  Here in the US, I just show them the camera and inform them it'd non-professional...the lens doesn't come off...and they say OK.  They have to draw the line somewhere, and they draw it at removable lenses.

I've seen security refuse people with cameras like this though ... because of what they perceive it to be.  And unfortunately, to the untrained eye, a camera with an extended full-sized lens looks like a professional DSLR camera.  And no amount of explaining that the lens doesn't come off is going to change their minds.  So now you're stuck having to lug the camera back to your car or checking it in at security.  I haven't been to a show in the States in a couple of years though, so maybe things have changed.

In all of my experience, and I bring the FZ70 to every show I go to, in the U.S., they established the guidelines as follows: Non-professional cameras only, as to be defined as a camera with removable/interchangeable lenses.  When I'm going through security, I always offer to show them the camera and as I'm revealing it, point out that that it's not a professional camera, while pointing out that the lens is permanent.  They haven't denied me entry with it yet.  Good to know though,, if I find myself in Europe for a show.
