Matrix Help!?!?
« on: March 08, 2003, 10:56:09 AM »
Well I've decided to try this using Cool edit pro.  Right now I'm trying to mix a sbd and an aud track.  I can't even come close to getting the two to sych.  What I want to do is start palying one track and then start the other track at the right moment....I'll keep playing with it but any help is GREATLY APPREACIATED!!!!!!! :P

I have done a few, but not using CE Pro, but I imagine the process is similar. You need to sync them up by sliding the tracks back and forth to get them in line. Find a beat, like the kickdrum and line them up as best you can. Now zoom in closer and closer so they are right in alignment.

My clock and the one that phish uses for their releases were off almost a full second after about 50 minutes, so I had to split up the SBD source and resync every-so-often. Here is a picture from the session... Sorry it's so big.... ;)

Hi All,

The problem you are seeing here is that the delay must be offset several times throughout the recording.  As the rooms gets warmer and more humid (ie. "hot and sweaty"), the speed of sound in air increases thus affecting the timing between the two sources since the console feed does not change throughout the evening.

I have the math and further explanation posted at http://207.36.59.179/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=software;action=display;num=1044386172

I hope this helps.

Marc
