SD 302 with SD 722
« on: March 24, 2008, 04:11:09 PM »
I would like to connect my Sound Devices 722 and 302 (preamp) together so that I can record with 3 mics. What gain do I set my line-in level of my 722 so that the level meter on my 722 is the same as my 302. I am thinking of connecting the 302's XLR line-out to the 722's XLR line-in. I will be adjusting all my levels using the 302 gain knob. So would like to sync the 302 and 722 meters.

Is there a way to work this out?

Thanks

The 302 will generate a reference tone so that you can calibrate the gain setting on downstream devices.

look at the manual, page 13.
