NOS vs. DIN
« on: August 22, 2003, 01:46:21 PM »
I have yet to run NOS with my mbho's. seems it would fatten up the bottom end a bit at close distances. i would not try it from far back, but was wondering what some of you think. I tend to run a modded din (17cm) if i feel i'm too far away. i like the sound, but i think ortf sounds a little fatter. seems that NOS would sound similar to ortf in that 'no mans land' thats not far enough for the 17 cm din and not close enough for ortf. make sense?

discuss.

I use to run nos with mbho 440's and loved the wide open sound of it.  Never did it inside, always outside though!

I am going to try nos for the first time tonight.
I'll be about 20ft back for the allstars at a medium sized bar.

If you're up front, I think the MBHOs - and a lot of mics, really - will sound great in NOS.

well...for a cheap ruler, search online, i found a teacher's tools website that had a ruler and a protractor that you could print out on it, and it worked out...
then what i did to use as a guide for mic placement, is a made a right angled triangle cut out out of a manila folder with 20cm hypotenuse, i keep that cutout in my case and it's wuick and easy to set up the mics DIN with it.  got that idea from some dude at hampton i saw using one.
