I'd guess the pad would help, as SBD level signals are usually hotter than mic levels. The V3 gain is clean, so why not play it safe?

Don't engage phantom power!
Out of the game … for now?

ahh, almost forgotthe phanton thing, thankfully, i ALWAYS dis-engage it after each show:)

its just a pain to get my v3 out of its cage, tomake a quick adjustmentlikethat, but whatever, i'lldo it :)

i just hate to engage the -20db pad and then get there and want to run my mics :(

what i did was print out the schematic of the v3 internals. cut out the section to contain the -20 pad and highlight the jumpers that need switched. laminated it and taped it to the bottom of my v3

i always pack a small screwdriver. you never know whats gonna happen and you may need the -20 pad

Bean,

I've run sbd>V3 on a couple of occasions, and never had an issue (both for Ras M.). If I remember correctly I ended up adding 5-10dB of gain.
Grab the tape out of the board, and if its too hot, have them back it down a teence.

+T moke, i'll def try it out normal during sndchck

and i may be able tohave them back them down a bit since im archiving doodis and know them resal well, i'll just tell the soundguy toback her down ge3ntly

jcaledun and i both ran SBD (balanced signal) >V3>JB3 for yonder shows in oxford, memphis, and knoxville.  no -20 db pad was used... it worked fine...  didn't have to turn up the gain at all though.

I keep my V3 in a cage too with a short pair of RA XLR interconnects 'permanently' attached, and taking it apart in the field is something I'd rather not do.

I just keep a pair of these in my bag and use 'em if I get thrown a SBD feed...
