Title: Options for dumping flash cards at festivals/on the road????
Post by: Evil Taper on January 19, 2006, 03:06:03 AM
I'm curious what kind of options there are for dumping the recordings off your flash card when you don't have access to a computer.  I remember reading some stuff about a portable hard drive flash card reader thing but have no idea what it was called.  So what is out there that is actually road tested and works?

I think it was called an on-the-go drive

Another option - I use the PD7X - They go on sale every now and then.  The PD7X is nothing fancy, just a bit dump, but it works for me so far.  It'll get a more strenuous workout in the spring.

Ipods have a camera adapter that will extract anything from flash cards. Great alternative imo.

i'm using the PD70X(see mwz post above for the link), and couldn't be more happy. 40GB hard drive, 8MB cache, very quick transfers @ 16MB/s, it's built well, plus i can dump my xd card from my camera onto it as well. i bought mine last month for $200 shipped & it arrived within a day or two. it came with the car charger, wall charger, plus 4xAA NiMH 2500AH.
