IIUC Black Lion are know for modding MOTU and Digidesign gear.

24 VDC makes it difficult to power in the field. Is anyone familiar with it?

Im not familiar with the pre mentioned and I havnt dealt with them personally, but I did have a friend from college get his Digi 002 mod'd by these guys and there was definitely a great difference. They swapped some capacitors and components, new pres, and new AD DA converters apparently. Though it was an expensive move, you could certainly argue its worth- the pres really did sound great and hardly hissed till they were near full open. Of course now with Pro Tools 9, Digi made it so you are no longer forced to use their garbage hardware to run Pro Tools so I cant imagine they see too many mod request now a days.

That's 24VAC, even trickier . . .

that's what I thought I remembered when I looked into these 3 or so years ago...
you could do 24vdc in the field but 24vAC- good luck   ::)
