Sandisk 32GB class 4... came with my Thunderbolt HTC phone from Verizon, but works in the M10, 14+ hours (but realized the card had data on it, so probably would allow more time)

FWIW, I bought a 32GB Chinese knock-off Sandisk card on ebay for $14.50.
I didn't intend to have this for critical use, but I've tried it in my M10 and it works fine.

Famous last words.  :P :P :P Used the Chinese card as a backup this weekend, and two out of four files were corrupted. Lucky to have other tapers covering for me.
For critical taping, I'm using Kingston MicroSDHC 8GB (Class 4) right now, no problems so far!

Sometimes you really do get what you pay for...

Ok, I ordered the new 64gb SanDisk and it does not work in my M-10.  I do very long field nature recordings. The 32gb SanDisk works great so I was rather disappointed that the 64 gb was a no go. I bought it from B & H so at least I can return it.

IMHO, being that the 64gb are so new, I bet a lot of "current" devices wont read them... but probably something a firmware can fix

Right, but I don't think Sony does firmware updates.

The Sandisk 64GB card is not compatible because it is not a MicroSDHC card, it is a MicroSDXC card. Cards over 32GB have to be the new XC specification, and older gear like our little Sony will not be reading those due to hardware incompatibility. Note the logo in the graphic says XC.

Meanwhile, I wonder what the "I" is for? Speed class?

Just put a Samsung 8GB MicroSDHC class 6 in my M10.  Recognised straight away, formatted no problem, tested fine.

Re: Transcend 8gig SDHC card question
« Reply #26 on: September 17, 2012, 01:51:02 PM »
We have a Marantz PMD 661 recorder. It came with a Marantz 4gig card and that works fine.
I tried using a Transcend 8 gig class 10 card and it records and plays fine. Problem happens when trying to download the file into the computer. Macbook pro with Intel processor and Mac G4.
The Marantz card is recognized immediately. The Transcend card either isn't recognized, or takes forever. Using the recorder's USB output to transfer the files.
Thanks
Thom

I am currently using the SanDisk 64GB microSDXC ("XC" not "HC") card in my Sony PCM-M10 - and it's working beautifully!

SIXTY-FOUR GB!

Here's how I did it:  http://www.head-fi.org/t/456327/sony-pcm-m10-as-portable-player/120#post_8727898

And here's how I use it:

Sony PCM-M10 (Japan) PCM Recorder/Player, using the unheralded Line Out from its wonderful delta-sigma DAC of proprietary Sony design (bypassing the internal headphone amp)

Milian Acousitcs interconnect (USA) SPOFC (silver-plated oxygen-free copper) Kevlar-sleeved interconnect with Switchcraft 3.5mm one straight and one rt. angle connector

iBasso PB2 Pelican (China) headphone amplifier (quad push-pull design with balanced output) modded with 4x LME49990 op-amps in the input voltage gain stage and 4x HA5002 op-amps as buffers (for current gain), producing ~2500mW RMS (more than 80 times the power of a typical iDevice or other 30mW MP3 player) at a "vanishing low" THD+N of 0.00001% in the LME49990 op-amps.

Toxic Cables Silver Poison (UK) cryogenically-treated unidirectional UPOCC (ultra pure Ohno continuous cast) 99.99998% Silver wire headphone cables terminated for balanced output to...

Audez'e LCD-2 Rev.1 (USA) Planar Magnetic Headphones

Yes...  the Sony PCM-M10 Line Out is THAT GOOD as a source!  It's a wonderful portable transport for 44.1/16 rips or 96/24 hi-rez downloads, in WAV format.

Do you even get the batteries to run as long as it takes for the card to fill up?  Isnt that about 14 hours of time to fill the card?
