when did the v2 come out?
« on: October 06, 2004, 01:41:23 PM »
i have phall 97 sources and i just gotta make sure, theyre from 11/17/97, first set 210>lunatec>ad1k, second set mk4/cmc6>lunatec>ad1k :) and BTW, i think the 210>lunatec>ad1k OWNZ J00 8)

so i thought this has to be the 316 right, since the v2 didnt come out til round 98 right ???

thanks yinz,

Call Grace...
I’ve had a few weird experiences and a few close brushes with total weirdness of one sort or another, but nothing that’s really freaked me out or made me feel too awful about it. - Jerry Garcia

This DAT-Heads post seems to say June '98; it's the earliest I can find:

http://www.solorb.com/dat-heads/digests/V4.300/D327

I know I patched out of one in July '98 (Blues Traveler at Red Rocks). First one re-sold on DAT-Heads, less than four months later. ;)

That source might be referring to the lunatec 316, the precursor to the V2 (as in, the 316 was "v1"), though I don't know when that came out.
Mics: Microtech Gefell m20/m21 (nbob/pfa actives), Line Audio CM3, Church CA-11 cards
Preamp:  none <sniff>
Recorders:  Sound Devices MixPre-6, Sony PCM-M10, Zoom H4nPro

late summer/early fall '98 is correct.  I had prepurchased one that was supposed to be in before Telluride Bluegrass that summer, and it wasn't in yet, so I did T-Ride with an EAA PSP2.  I believe I got the V2 (serial # 17) later that summer.  So 97 must have been the 316.

Earliest reference to the 316 i can find is June 1995...

http://sky.etree.org/setlists/Phish/ph1995-06-09.txt

Of course, before the V2, it was the ONLY Lunatec, so it likely wasn't referred to as such...but since Grace Designs didn't exist before late 1994, that's probably among the earliest.

Hi Guys,
The first V2 shipped on 5/28/98.  I think we shipped about 20 of them in June...  The first 316s were made somewere around March of 95.  There are  only about 16 of the 316s all together.
Cheers,
Mike

just joshing mike.  just brimming with anticipation.  honestly, besides the optical out, don't know how the v3 could be improved upon.  unless, the HD recorder option, released before an operating 744t/722, yeah, that's the ticket... ;D

The only improvement I can think of would be to put the 15dB jumpers as switches on the outside of the unit so they can be switched w/o opening the box up (nice for last-minute SBD patches at the show). Is this even possible? I don't know, but it sure would be nice!  :)
