I wasn't sure to put this here, or in the Yard Sale Section.
I currently have 2 sets of Mic's with Clips (CA-14 Cards) and (CA-11 Omni's) - I am using a RODE Mic Bar for my Rode M5's and clipping these to the end.
I was curious if anyone had an ORTF or DIN designed Mic Bar for Church Audio Mics available. Looking for something to hold them in place
Also wondering how other folks place their CA Mics' (I know I know, just use a ruler :D) Any input appreciated.
I was looking a a schoeps bar that popped up here last week, but went to another buyer....

The clips can interfere. There needs to be enough barrel on the cable side of the clip so the bar can grab the mic.

No response so far to my email from last week....so I'm still looking for something for my Church Audio Mics.
I used a clamp last night, from a friend of a taper which worked well. It was just a clamp with a bar coming out of it (maybe 6" long) that I was able to attach both mics to. Anyone use one of these, or have suggestion for where I might find such a clamp ?

Not too long ago there was a guy using a shock mount with a plain old 12” ruler stuck through it and clipping the mics on the ends. It was pretty clever and might do in a pinch.

There was definitely more than one guy doing this; I was one of them but it definitely wasn't my original idea. The only new thing I added: I bought a cheap aluminum ruler and cut each end to a non-symmetrical point such that clipping the mics one way would make a 110deg opening angle and the other way 90deg. The ruler went into a cheap shockmount that looks like a plastic cylinder with crossed rubber bands at each end. It's all these mics really need.

so if you can see in the picture i am using a 4 mic bar with my nakamichi shotguns in the center, but on each side i took a metal clothes hanger , bent it around where the mic clips would screw on then screwed them down. go to the other end made a small circle bend to clip the mics to and gaff taped the wire to the bars, it made a 4.5' spaced pair that blended awesome with the shotguns..... idea i came up with in a hurry for the omni pair

Thanks! This is a great idea, I like the idea of spreading the Omni's out like that. I currently run Rode M5s with either my CA-11 Omni's or CA-14 Cards > TASCAM 70D. (Similar Setup).
Will give it a shot. Penns Peak is a great venue to record in too.

I use the CA-14's all the time. It sounds crazy, but through trial and error, I now exclusively use coasters from a bar (when they're not in my hat). Yes, you read that correctly! Cut out a small hole, and tap it right onto your stand. They are reusable for several times, providing that you keep them from bending. The best part is, aside from keeping a couple back-ups with you that take up no space and the fact that they're free...is that they double as shockmounts. The material absorbs shock and vibrations very well. Try it, you really don't need anything else for those mics.

You'd be surprised, my friend. They really work great. I even cut out an old credit card to use in the same way, but the plastic vibrates, just as thin metal would. I went back to the coasters. If I were at home, with access to my photos, I could provide dozens of pics.

Yup, it absorbs all vibrations and essentially isolates the microphones...which is important with these little suckas since they are soldered to alligator clips. I will often gaff-tape a coaster to a beam and clip the CA-14's to them while running an extension cable down to a deck...they work wonders.

FYI: SRS makes XY mounts for CA-11's and DIN mounts for CA-11/14's now.
They cost a bit more than bar coasters, though.

What's your recommended mic stand? I think I will go with this Manfrotto unless anyone has any other good recommendations.

15" acrylic bar I bought for a dollar. Tape wraps around the center so it fits more snuggly in the shockmount. Double sided tape on the ends, so the mic clips have a better grip.

I use a Manfrotto 14-38 Rapid Adapter Stud to 3/8": https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/546490-REG/Manfrotto_014_38_014_38_Rapid_Adapter.html
And a 3/8" to microphone screw adapter with a Shure A53M Shock mount on top. Just run the Shapeways bars through the shock mount and clip in your mics.
Ran this set up all weekend at Festival International de Louisiane, and even in pretty good winds at about 10' the stand didn't budge.

I made mic bars up for my AT853 years ago out of cPVC pipe. I wrapped a layer of felt inside of the cPVC and the mics are snug and hold tight. Attached are my drawings I used to make my bars. I place the bar in a single shock mount. Painted them black.
