That's what I have... I used it once thus far, and I thought it rocked.  it was in a small bar, not an arena.

Had the TL's on Hypers, and arranged them in XY.
Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

Yes he does.

Bass is fat and punchy - I rarely find a need to tweak with EQ in post, but there have been a few shows that came out too bass heavy.

Great combo - highly recommended.

How is the bass with the warm mod ua-5 and TL's?

Hmmm... I noticed that it was not as bass heavy as my NT4 (which is cards in a permanent X-Y position), but punchy is a good word for it...

remember, X-Y gets rid of a lot of the boominess, and makes it sound punchy (from what I have read...) Other configs might give more low end...

I really liked how it sounded, and found no need to EQ it at all...

i run this combo currently, but only twice. DIN Hypers and AB cards. The AB cards smoked on the mono PA show i was taping on NYE, but was in a better sounding room. haven't had the chance to run anything else. As for the bass i thought it sounded pretty good.  However i was more impressed with the mids and highs of TL's. Very clean, pristine and clear much like the 480's IMO.

can't wait to run the omnis....i've heard the TL omnis own the rest of its polar patterns 8)

hey now,

thanks for the thumbs up on my 12/28 recording...having listened to it several times and talked with other folks, I would have to GUESS that a presence mod might be more fitting.  The TLs are already warm enough, even w/o a pre in front of the AD1000, I have to use hypers in clubs/big rooms to cut down on the boominess....I'm guessing that a presence mod would help boost that high end, which does sound a bit distant to me especially on page's piano.  then again i was not DFC, so that might have something to do with it too.

again, i'm guessing on the presence mod here...would like to hear that combo if its around.

I had the opportunity to run both the pmod & wmod with the TL's and I definitely preferred the wmod.  The pmod had thinner bass and more pronounced highs - made the TL's sound too bright for my tastes.  I have a Big Wu show I recorded 1/2 TL>wmod, 1/2 TL>pmod - pm/email me if interested.

craig gave me this big wu show right before xmas.

i have been listening to it alot, in the car, and with/without headphones at home, and i told him that i liked the warm mod much better than the p mod. the warm mod seems to compliment the mics better than presence. the presense mod was still nice, but i preferred warm. the show is from an intimate venue that has a pretty good sound guy

in fact, looking over my discs i keep in my brief, i have a few of craigs tl > v3, and tl > w-mod ua5 shows.

the tl's are great sounding mics, and versatile.

ok, thanks for clearing that up...the Pmod was pure speculation on my part, thankfully Craig can attest to both.

calico, i'd only consider the AD1000 if you're not wanting the spend the $$$ on a mini me.  you DEFINITELY will like either combo, but man it sucks knowing that eventually, i will turn on that ad1000 and wind up asking someone for a patch !    :P

he already has an ad1000
it's still the best sounding 16bit converter for my ears, better than both the minime and the v3 at 16bit. Overall I like the mod-sbm-1 at 16 bit

Yeah, I do have the AD-1000. Of course it's at ProDigital being repaired now. :(
I've been checking into the ADK's. It looks like it's going to be a little while before they come out with a decent SD mic. I'm also afraid the price might be steep when they do put one out. I'm starting to think the TL's are a great microphone for the price.

galactic at MSNights in feburary? I'd like to do the comparison at MSnights since it's probably the best sounding medium size venue in St. Louis. of course a concert at a theatre iin some college town in IL wouldn't be out of the wuestion either. i'll check jambase and see if there is anything in the future fo us to do the comp.

Great combo - highly recommended.

M/S sounds NEAT! I just got a sample from the above shows. in recording M/S with idea of doing the encoding in post which mic is pointed to the side? L or R
the show is over go home please.

The raw recording was:
L=mid (cardiod facing front)
R=side (fig-8 facing left)

Stereo decoding:
L=mid+side
R=mid-side

If you software editor has m/s>stereo decoding, it may tell you which channels your mid and side should be for the raw file.  If you recorded it "backwards", just swap channels on your raw file before decoding.
