Topic: ADC-20 right-angle solution (was: I've got a fever...)

...and the only prescription is more cowbell right-angles. Just got an ADC-20 and I'm trying to hunt down a right-angle power connector to save space in my bag. I saw Brian's earlier thread about the right-angle V3 power cable, but this post from DAT-Heads (which is a reply to this one) seems to imply that the Mini-Me and ADC-20 both take the same size power cable. Independent of the BOOOOOOOOOOOM factor, would I be able to use one of the connectors mentioned in the second email for the ADC-20? The ADC-20 uses a Switchcraft 760K and the dimensions look similar but I want to double-check before ordering or attempting.

i'm not sure on the dimensions but the minime connector is not a locking connector and generally cheap, if you want to go right angle i think you'd be better off doing a hack like people have done for the v3 plug.  just my .02

Thanks, Nick. I'm not too concerned about locking vs. non-locking because I won't be running the ADC-20 vertically; it'll be lying on its side to take some of the torque off the cables coming out of it. I do have an extra 670K connector so if one gets fucked up I can always use the other one, I guess...

Ok - just heard back from Rich Perlman, who wrote one of the DAT-Heads posts above. Text of the email follows; the part numbers mentioned are from the Mouser catalog. I'll probably end up ordering both and seeing what works best. The one he uses has a locking tip plug which will offer *some* resistance to being pulled out (as opposed to the other one which offers none, and the 760K which has the screw-down collar). Hope this helps some folks.

They're cheap enough that you can buy a few of each and use the one that you like best.

I prefer not having to solder in tight spaces, so I bought the one with
the leads attached.

If you go for the 172-1015, I suggest that you insert it into the ADC-20
before connecting the other end of the cord to the battery's connector.
In fact, I just leave the power plug in the ADC-20 all the time.  Once,
before a show, I rubbed the plug against the body of the ADC-20 and
shorted out my battery (I also highly recommend an inline fuse on every
battery you build!).  I always carry spares, so it only took me 30
seconds to be powered up.
