Topic: ADK A-51 TL ??

Ok, sold my 1000's and am 99% sure I am going with these   , a few questions

1) The shockmounts that come with them will work fine? (Is that what everyone uses?)

2) what kind of t-bar do people use with this?

3) Will my PS2 power these?

any other advice would be appreciated

1) yes, the included shockmounts are fine
2) I use a Shure a27m vertical mount and the akg t-bar with the adjustable "wings".
3) yes, the ps2 will power the TL's

i agree about the shockmounts - mine came with the supermounts and an aluminum case.

i use the shure vertical mount bar modded for extension.  i have run the mics on the vert bar in botched non-coincident formations (where the mics are slightly different heights, and that does OK.  I am going to make a t-bar with a baffle to run close-range split omnis.

i use a PS-2 to power my TLs.  The battery life (if you use a 9-volt) is not all that great, expect to change it every couple of hours.  i change mine every set to be safe.  i now have a 9.6 volt external battery to power it, and it lasts for a long, long time.

so far, i have used the mics 20 times in the past 42 days.  I have been happy with every single recording.

I think the shockmounts are sufficient as long as you get the supers.  I saw the non-supers, and they didn't look like they would hold the mic in an inverted position.

Also, the TL's are great for uyse in the home studio as well!

Yup- I have dealt with Larry, and he was incredibly cool.  Lent me a mic while another one was off getting repaired!  That's customer service!

haven't seen it mentioned in this thread, but, there are 2 models for the PS2; a 12v and a 48v.
you need the 48v model to power the TLs.

I love my TLs.  The regular mounts hold them upside down just fine.  I was scared at first but after shaking my stand they didn't budge so I feel just fine about running them x/y

Great mics, just spent the entire weekend running them.....can't go wrong, got a cheap way to split the omni's also with out using a second stand.

As far as the ps2, I am almost positive that it is a 48v, but is there an easy way to tell?
