Title: Anybody know where to get a battery powered usb hub to run interface with ipad?
Post by: kingtut38 on May 25, 2012, 06:21:58 PM
I'm thinking about running a Presonus vsl22 with my ipad through a camera kit adapter.  It needs a powered usb hub.  I haven't seen almost any battery powered usb hubs out there.  Anyone know where to get one?

I wrote a review about mine here. I love it. B&H had the cheapest last I saw.

I know your's powers everything but I need the battery to be able to send an usb signal to the ipad.  This looks just like a charger.  I want to do what this guy is doing but without the plug in power.

Maybe I'm missing something.

I want to hook up my USBPre2 with an iPad and use a USB backup battery, the Energizer XP4001, to power the Pre2 in stand-alone mode. (I have previously used the XP4001 to power the Pre2 in stand-alone mode and it works.) I also want to do it without a powered USB hub.

I plan to use a Cables to Go 28108 USB 2.0 B Male to 2 USB A Male Y-Cable such as this:

http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=1502&sku=28108&st=28108%20USB%202.0%20B%20Male%20to%202%20USB%20A%20Male%20Y-Cable#

I would plug the USB B end into the Pre2; the red USB A end into the Energizer XP4001; and the other USB A end into the iPad Camera Connector Kit USB input.

I've yet to try this but the cable might work for you.
