Would this Battery work with the Edirol R-4
« on: January 17, 2007, 05:06:05 PM »
I was curious if this battery would work with the Edirol R-4 for external power.

Tekkeon MP3400

or this one

Also if anyone has used this to externally power an Edirol recorder, would I have to splice and reverse the polarity to plug into an R-4?

Thanks,
Michael

FYI, I'm unable to access the product information pages.

Links don't work for me either... Looks like you logged in and then got the link instead of just going there without logging in.

I think these are the two products about which you're asking:

http://store.tekkeon.com/productdetails.php?sid=145aeaed753ec7&product_id_int=153

Can't tell if they'll power the R-4, since they don't provide any specs at all - no way to know if the voltage is correct or if they have sufficient capacity.

At any rate, for a lot less money, you can pick up the "Walmart" style lithium batteries:

I and many others are using 9v lithium batteries marketed for portable DVD players.

Three specific brands / models of which I'm aware:  Lenmar DVD-U9, Initial RB-270, Memorex  (sorry, forget the model #)

Keywords to use for finding them on eBay or Froogle:  universal, DVD, lithium

Make sure you <a> get the 9v version (some are 7.2v), and <b> don't forget to reverse the polarity on the power plug to your R-4.

You should be able to find the above batts for $30-$60/ea, and they'll last a good long time with the R-4.  (at least several hours each, probably more like 6+...but dependent on the mics you're using).

These are the specs for the Tekkeon My Power Specifications

Weighs just 11.8 oz (330g)
Size is 3.28” (W) x 6.80” (L) x .92” (D)
Rechargeable lithium polymer battery
3 hour charging time
Supports multiple voltages (3, 4.5, 5, 6, 7.5, 9, 12, 14V)
36W output power
Black and brushed silver

Usually, on these multiple voltage batteries, they seem to quote the Ah at the lowest setting.  Looks like it has less power than the Wallys.
