722/mini-me comparison... flac files posted!
« on: September 15, 2005, 04:25:14 PM »
anybody interested in hearing a track or two from dmb's 4th night at red rocks?  i ran scott's 722 @ 24/96 and the mini-me to the lappy at 24/48.  source info would be:

ck63 > active cables > jk labs dvc > mini-me > powerbook @ 24/48

and

ck63 > active cables > jk labc dvc > 722 @ 24/96

so it should be a fairly direct comparison of both units being run line-in.

I can host a track of each on my web site for a bit (that and I'm curious to hear this, too).  Let me know if you're interested.

ok, these are ready to go...

there are two tracks from each source.  sources are:

source 1: ck63 > active cables > jk labs dvc (+6db/40Hz rolloff) > line in apogee mini-me @ 24/48
source 2: ck63 > active cables > jk labs dvc (+6db/40Hz rolloff) > line in 722 @ 24/96

basically, i just ran some rca splitters out of the jk labs box and then went line in to the apogee and 722.

source files are at:

http://www.dmbtaper.com/1-abintro.flac
http://www.dmbtaper.com/1-recently.flac
http://www.dmbtaper.com/2-abintro.flac
http://www.dmbtaper.com/2-recently.flac

tapes were made 9.12.05 @ red rocks DFC right behind the soundboard @ approximately 8.5'

edit:  you'll also notice some cutouts at the end of the american baby intro apogee source.  not sure what exactly was going on there, but i think the splitters had to have gotten bumped or something.  it was elsewhere on the tape, so there were only a few tracks that were salvageable.

i'll check and make sure the upload finished up when i get home, but everything should have been ok.  at least, no errors were reported.  what tracks gave you the problems?

Here's my flac -t *flac output.  I'm thinking it may just be a download issue due to the file sizes.  I'm grabbing the problem files again now.

1-abintro.flac: testing, 36% complete

1-abintro.flac: ERROR while decoding data
                state = FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_END_OF_STREAM
