couple of questions about AT853a
« on: March 29, 2005, 01:01:25 AM »
what is the big difference between the at8531 power module (which comes with the 853a) and the at8533x (which comes with the rx).
all i have concluded is the 8531 is a box b/c it holds the battery (and doesnt look as easy to plug into an adc w/o some pigtails).  it seems the 8533x is more like a samson p4.  could i use a p4 instead of the 8531 if i wanted a smaller plug size into an adc?  (the 853a's terminate in a mini xlrm which fits into a p4)

second.  i see that the battery power is 1.5 volts.  that sounds redonkulous!  can i put a higher voltage battery in there when i am using battery power?  i would think the mics can take more since all the modded 853a that sp offers are using a 9v box.

finally - how hard would it be to make a battery box that would have both the mini xlrf inputs from the mics going in and rca f (or if i absolutly had to xlr f) out and juice the mics with 9v each.  basically changing out 2 8531s and going into one battery box with significantly more juice.  i realize that i would still need to use the 8531s (or a p4) if i going to provide p48. --- is this the 3 wire battery box i heard about? or is that more of a p48 hybrid? are there any plans for it.

i know an adc and/or phantom power would be nice... but is there anything i am missing if i want to run my 853a's w/ 8531s into my jb3... transistors?

cheers
