Here's what I ended up doing with mine. Didn't want to have to worry about what style of plug I may use for the occasional analog in recording.

I actually did the same thing awhile ago - though not as precise. I just took a pocket knife and whittled away the plastic that was getting in the way. Haven't had a problem since.
