cd burner recommendations
« on: October 08, 2003, 10:26:27 AM »
looks like my cd burner is starting to give me some grief so i'm thinking about making a change...seems like there are a ton of brands i don't know with cheap burners for sale out there...what's the most reliable?  mostly just burning but some DAE.  any brands to avoid?  thanks.

i have owned a few lite-on drives 24x, 52x and a 4x dvd+r, and after extensive research, mainly from cdfreaks.com, i have found that the liteon perform equally if not better than plextors at a much lower cost.  newegg.com has 52x burners for $40 and the dvd burner i bought is down to $99.  i have burnt tons of cds on these and never have a problem.

At this stage, I'd consider getting a DVD/CD burner.  I got a Pioneer A105 or some such.  Man, archiving loads of SHNs to a single DVD is sooooo much nicer than dealing with loads of CDRs.

i have an external dvd/cd burner as well.  looking for a higher speed internal to replace my now faltering internal drive.  i do archive on dvd-r, this is for burning and occasionally ripping cd's.
