...What Is This Noise In My Recording>?? JB3 Issues..
« on: July 12, 2004, 10:56:55 AM »
hey now ,

just got back from all good and started to take a listen to a few of my recordings.. all turned out really well , but now ive come to mmw .. i ran hypers for these guys and burning spear.. spear sounds fine but mmw  starts out really nice and then about every other sec or 2 there's a faint popping noise.. almost like a distortion .. or very similar to a "dirty" dat tape or dirty heads on a  tape player..  has anyone ever had this issue.. i looked inside the lens of the kbs and there are somr small bugs/debris inside the lens.. i wondered if its possible for bugs/ debris to reach the hd on these things or is it just a possible issue elsewhere.. i originally thought it may be a digi cable issue but im not familiar with various sounds/ various causes ..  if anyone has has this issue please sesh some info as to a starting point .. peace and goodvibes to all

post a sample for us but it sounds like maybe an optical cable issue.  Most cables don't fit properly in the JB3 input unless you clear away some excess plastic around the edge.

I've had this problem before as a result of the drive needing to be defragged.

I found that it was adding the pops and not losing any of the music.

It is a pain in the ass, but you can zoom in on the wave in your editor and cut them out.

If they are very brief (almost 1 sample) and close to 0db then you might have the same issue.
