Title: Panasonic gh4 or sony a7s for concert video?
Post by: joelpeer on October 16, 2014, 06:10:19 PM
Has anyone some experience shooting video with gh4 or a7s? GH4 has possibility to record internal great 4k video at low ISO and Sony a7s is quite crazy low light performance.

For the kind of stuff I do ("Look At Me Play Guitar!") the 4K internal recording of the GH4 is the killer feature. It allows a lot of flexibility in post when delivering 1080 or 720 for YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lK9V7rXkXT8

But if that ability to reframe/zoom in post is not a big deal and low light performance _is_ a big deal then the Sony is getting the kudos.

Be aware of the difference in the size of the overall rig, though. M4/3 lenses are much smaller and lighter than FF lenses.

Beware the problem with blues clipping on the A7s.

GH4 should do just fine.

A7S is an overkill - is stage completely unlit? :)

Plus as it was mentioned, A7S is much more expensive to buy and maintain. And focusing is harder with wide open lenses due to full-frame size sensor.
