This is the issue: my mics are standard sp cmc4U (AT853) terminated in a 1/8" minijack and I need to connect them to a SD MixPre with XLR inputs and phantom.
I already read all the threads regarding phantom power and 853 but did not find the answer, I'm sorry.

You would say: buy SP's cable that also provides phantom. I like very much Chris Carfagno's products but $ 100 (including shipping to europe) for a cable seem to me too expensive. That's why I prefer the DIY way.

Looking on the web I found followings schematics (http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/microphone_powering.html).

The XLR side is described as follows:

This circuit is a very simple method of connecting an electret microphone capsule to the a balanced phantom powered (48V) mixer XLR input.
                     _____
   HOT (2) ---------|_____|------+
                    47 kohm      |+
                                MIC
  COLD (3) ----+              CAPSULE
               |                 |-
GROUND (1) ----+-----------------+

Now, how to arrange the other side of the cable (i.e. stereo minijack)?
My guess is:

T = Hot Right channel
R = Hot Left channel
S = Ground Right+Left

Is that ok? Am I completely wrong? Would this provide juice to the mic?
In other words: what have I to solder?

TIA for your help and sorry for my english.

in order to run the AT853 with phantom power you need an adapter.  without it, you will fry the mics.  personally, i wouldnt bother with a homebrew option.

AT makes a couple of versions (AT8533, AT8531) and there is the Samson pm2 and i think nady makes one too.

easiest option might be to see if you can trade your 1/8" terminating 853s for someone's XLR-terminating 853rx's (with built in phantom adaptors) in the yardsale.  Maybe there's someone out there looking to pare down their rig.

How about just the right adapter.... go to this page and scroll down half way to PFA Phantom Adaptor for Stereo Plug-in Power Microphones
http://www.naiant.com/studiostore/cleverdevices.html

I've got a Right Angle set I've never used that I picked up in the yard sale and they sounded fine during a living room test.  Never tried it at a show.  If you want to try it I can loan it to you and see what you think.  PM me if interested.

And, oh, by the way... I'm pretty sure that circuit you described won't do it. is less than ideal.

That's a neat little doo hickey.
