gorillapod slr zoom - anyone use at concerts while shooting?
« on: February 11, 2009, 07:50:04 AM »
just picked one up
was wondering if anyone has used this at concerts before while shooting from say the balcony etc?

I'll def be getting a lot of use out of this thing at shows as well as on my honeymoon back to the motherland (South Africa) and especially while on Safari riding in the Range Rovers

It seems like it could be even handy for mounting smaller mics in unusual situations
perhaps one each for my mics considering i run 414's.. but maybe it could handle both who knows

A friend has one that she uses with her camera.  It works extremely well and we got some great balcony rail shots in low light.  I wouldn't hesitate to get one.

It will support a pair of SD mics but I wouldn't use it for LDs or anything heavy like big glass.

the slr zoom supports my XTi with a 70-200mm lens and a 2x extender no probs

but then again its the SLR Zoom version which is ment to hold more weight
not sure which one your friend has

Yeah, I've been using them for about two years, now...  for slr camera and one for a Sony pcm D1.  they're excellent for mounting to odd configurations.  I use the largest size for the above and one of the smaller pods to support a Panasonic LX1.  Never had one fail to hold its shape, steady.

Best,

John
