Multi-camera editing software.
« on: November 26, 2016, 12:03:58 PM »
I'm looking for software to edit some knock off "go-pro" videos. At this point I only have 2 cameras, but will probably add 2 more in the near future.

I would like to be able to line up all 2 (or 4) files and then switch between them depending on what camera has the best angle (this is for mountain biking). Most (if not all) of the cuts will either be straight cuts or quick fades.

The files are .MOV files, so the software needs to be able to edit these without converting them.

For now I'm shooting in 1080p...but I could see myself upgrading to 4K cameras in the future.

Any suggestions on software to use? Free would be great, but I'd be willing to spend up to $100.

Vegas Platinum, Adobe Premiere Pro, or if you are on a Mac, Final Cut will do what you want. Unfortunately if you are wanting to pay for any of them, you'll need more than $100. Any freeware or low cost NLE's will not allow you to non-destructively edit your videos. Hope that helps you out and good luck with your project!

If you have a powerful computer with the right graphics card you can download DaVinci Resolve: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve

Otherwise try Shotcut: https://www.shotcutapp.com/

Thanks.

I read the requirements for Davinchi...not even close, but maybe a good guide for me when building my next PC (which I'll probably do next year).

I'll give Shotcut a try.

Sony VEGAS Movie Studio Platinum 13 is $79 and while not as robust as Vegas Pro, it will certainly do what you want and much more...

Here is the differences:
