lol I'm intimidated by tiny wires and am affraid that I'll mess it up and be out some cash....any tips/suggestions?

Trust me, its a super easy hack to do. Especially if you use the 'quick crimp connects'.  You dont even have to solder anything. All you have to do is make sure you connect red to red, and black to black. Read through the thread 2-3 times w/ all the parts in front of you, then give it a shot. When everything is in front of you, you will see how easy it really is.

cut a piece of wire in half and practice resoldering it.  Thats the same amount/technique youll be doing for the hack.  Plus it will build your confidence for really cheap.  "Once you gone DIY, there is no going back"
