are these the one's you're considering?  I've been looking into making some cables too.

partsexpress.com takes paypal.
fwiw...
handy.  their prices are ok, but not the best out there.  You might end up paying $5 more in total through them on a small order.
but they have everything you need, sans the new neutrik xlrs.

Are these the "stubby" RAs?

Are these the thinnest?
The RX connectors:

these are smaller than the other nutirik xlrs, but not as "stubby" as what some people are modifing.  This thread has pictures both of some custom shorty xlrs (first page,) as well as the new neutrk xlrs (my post 3rd page) so you can probably get an idea of the size differences.  Hope this helps.

If the above retailers are out of stock of your needed xlr's, mouser.com is another place to try. My experience with them was smooth. Other retailers were back ordered, so I gave them a try. No complaints, very fast shipping. My experiences with the others have been good as well.

The new (slimmer) RA Neutriks fit all of my gear fine.

The ones I ordered came from mouser as well.  Every other place was out of them.  Mouser at least had the nickel in stock (would've preferred the black)   I ended up ordering everything else from Parts Express

That's precisely what happened to me as well. While I preferred black housing, time was a factor and I settled for (Mouser had in stock) the nickel with silver contacts. However, the nickel color has since grown on me with the Techflex color I used. A blessing in disguise.  8)

one thing about these...
they are thin...but LONG.
the old style RAs are a more compact design, overall...its just the housing is a little wide for some of our gear.

fyi, these are 600x easier to solder than the old right-angle neutriks

I got mine from markertek, and mouser rounded out the females, which were out of stock
