Title: CF Cards: Team? TopRAM? Transcend?
Post by: splumer on May 16, 2013, 11:09:33 AM
I need to get a 2GB card for my R-1, and I was looking on New Egg, and they have some really cheap, like under $10. Problem is, they're brands I've never heard of: Team, TopRAM and Transcend. Anyone ever use these brands? A SanDisk from Amazon is $16 plus shipping. Yeah, I'm being a cheapskate, but we're talking a $10 price difference here. That's a couple of beers at a show!

Of those the only one I've heard of is Transcend. I have a small (128MB) Transcend card that came with a Fostex FR2LE. I used it for testing the unit then promptly replaced it with a much larger card.

Transcend are decent cards, I have a couple 16GB for my 690 no problems

Transcend is sort of a name brand (if it is a legit/non-counterfeit one).

It could be $10 vs. a lost recording though...  With a few things you may get what you pay for (or don't).

NewEgg is a safer bet then ebay but it's still possible to get conterfit's through NewEgg but very unlikely - there was a rash of fake processors that made it through NewEgg a few years back
