preamp for zoom H2
« on: March 15, 2009, 04:32:57 AM »
Hi

I'd like to add a pre to zoom H2 because zoom's pre is very very noisy, hissy.
I really like the SOUNDMAN OKM II KLASSIK A3 binaural mics with their own pre
but this pre its not compatible with other mics

Does anyone know a good pre for the soundman mics thats alsso compatible with other mics?

I really need the most silent pre-amp recording ambient,nature...etc...

Best

Are you sure you know what you're wishing for when you want the most silent pre-amp? That kind of gear will cost you at least $1000.
Since you're running a H2, it wouldn't make much sense, right?

So I take it that you actually are looking for the best valued pre, given the typical budget range of H2 gear?
Church Audio ST-9100 is the first prescription when it comes to pocket-size quality pre for those on a tight budget.
I don't know how your mics are powered or terminated, but Chris Church can customize the inputs, 3,5mm or miniXLR according to your choice.

Since you're recording ambient, I take it that you don't mind bulkier gear? In that case, boxes like Fast Track Pro, Mackie Onyx Satellite or even UA-5 (all less than $200) might be even more silent, although not all of them have analog pass-through. Some other models do, but I can't remember which ones at the moment...
