Protecting Optical Cable
« on: May 09, 2003, 12:16:12 AM »
Until my D7 comes in, I am going to be running optical out of my UA-5 to my MD.  Exactly how fragile are these cables?  I have a good way to transport it, one of those tupperware sandwich containers, but what about when its setup?

keep your gear close to each other and let cable follow its natural coil.  i use a little piece of velcro for mine.

The Sony 7-pin to optical cables are *very* fragile.  Be very careful.  Keeping it in Tupperware when not in use is a very good idea.  I never had a problem when it was set up; just don't put any stress on it or twist it in ways that the coil does not allow for.

I let mine coil around the D8. Seemed to work the best for me.
