Topic: SP-BMC-23 omnis?

Anyone running these? Just wondering how they compare to something like Countryman B3's. Can't seem to find any samples though.
The description on their site says "compare with DPA 4060" which is probably a stretch.

It may not be a stretch, since some members of this board actually prefer the Countryman B3's (priced similarly to the SP-BMC-23's) to the DPA 4060 series.

But with no samples around, it would be safer to just go with the Countrymans. I was an early adopter of the Zoom H4 before I had a chance to read about what taperssection members had to say about it, and will never be an early adopter of anything again.

This is a 4 years old thread, but since I can't find any recording or review of these mics I'm taking a chance here.
I'm surprised nobody ever tried them... They are available with the low sensivity mod and are half the price of a DPA 4061 pair.

Whoops, I meant to post in this thread. I did get a pair without the low-sens mod and they distorted at a not very loud theatre show and slightly distorted at a cafe gig, so I put them in my gear case and forgot about them for a while. Last year I sent them to Darktrain to mod. They no longer distort, but was completely underwhelmed by the sound (theatre rock show) - what didn't distort at the cafe gig sounded nice though. Will post a side-by-side comp with 4060s in a theatre asap. I'd say they left the same impression on me as the B3s, great for acoustic or outdoor non-rock shows, but a letdown at indoor rock shows.
