Mod UA-5
« on: November 16, 2003, 11:08:13 PM »
Will the Oade Brothers mod a UA-5 that is not purchased from them?  Its available from other sellers a lot cheaper, unmodded of course.  And I have a pretty tight budget.  I'd like to get the warm or precision mod but am trying to get a better deal.

Nope, they only mod UA5s purchased directly from them.

Yeah, heaven forbid they actually make a profit.  Goodness gracious.

Do you work for free, cpclark?  Either they make money and stay in business, or they don't make money and go out of business.  I've learned far more from their forums and speaking with them on the phone than I have here at TS.com, and generally have been happy with their products and services.  I, for one, believe we're all better off with the Oade Bros in business.

Hey ShipWorthy, maybe cpclark will mod a cut-rate UA-5 for you - both preamp and digi mod to save you some money.   ::)

I think it's worth the money... I dig the warm mod.
Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

it's also because since they are voiding the warranty from edirol when they do the mods, they will take over warranty issues themselves, so that's why you have to buy it from them in the first place.
and yeah it's a better way for them to make a profit, too.

The warranty issue is a good point, Simp.  Though I'm not sure if their model is as you mention, or if they can un-do the mods to send warranty issues back to Edirol.  Either way, warranty's are a good thing if the shit hits the fan.

i think i remember reading about their mod voiding the warranty from edirol, but they will still warranty their services for you so i imagine they just fix it themselves or get you another one from edirol.

Now that I read it, that kinda rings a bell, too.  Well, either way - having the warranty intact is a Good Thing.

You can though buy a UA5 from Oade Brothers then get it modded later as long as it came from there originally just thought i would share that Mike
